OAC Policies

We are committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming environment for all individuals. Our Safe Space Policy ensures that all guests and staff are treated with dignity, kindness, and respect, regardless of their background, identity, or beliefs. Discrimination, harassment, or hate speech of any kind will not be tolerated. We encourage open-mindedness, empathy, and support for one another, creating a space where everyone feels comfortable, safe, and valued.
To foster a peaceful and focused atmosphere conducive to learning and artmaking, we kindly ask that discussions about sensitive topics, including politics and religion, be reserved for outside of class and open studio time. This ensures our creative spaces remain respectful and productive for all.
If you experience or witness any inappropriate behavior, please contact us immediately so we can address the situation promptly.

The governing board of Oregon Art Center (OAC) has adopted this Code of Conduct to foster a peaceful and focused atmosphere conducive to learning and making art.
Be respectful, kind, and courteous to everyone at OAC. Staff, instructors, other students, and guests are entitled to politeness and courtesy in all interactions. Hateful, bigoted, demeaning, or abusive language will not be tolerated.
Be on time and ready for class. Late arriving students can disrupt the learning environment. If set up is required for class, be early and have your set up completed by the start time of class.
Help us maintain a safe space. Store your belongings so others wonāt trip over them and bring to the attention of staff any dangerous conditions or situations. If you feel unsafe, let us know.
Avoid talking to others during instruction. It is hard to hear what the instructor is saying when students are talking in the background.
Silence your cell phone. If you are expecting an urgent call, place your phone on vibrate. Step out of the room to take any calls.
Follow instructor and staff for directions on how to handle equipment and materials. They will let you know where items are located and how to set them up.
Clean up your space! When class is over, be sure your art space is at least as good as you found it. Properly dispose of trash and recycling. Some paints clog the pipes so avoid putting excess paint in a sink whenever you can. Use only the craft sink, not the kitchen sink for clean up.
